Lendook

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 24, 2026

Lendook ("Lendook", "we", "us") connects people in Vancouver who want to lend books with people who want to borrow them. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

If you have questions, contact our privacy officer at privacy@lendook.com.

1. What we collect

When you join the waitlist (what's live today)

When you create an account (the future product)

When you lend or borrow (the future product)

When you pay or get paid (the future product)

Payment will be processed by Stripe. We will not store full card numbers. We expect to receive limited transaction data (amount, status, last 4 digits). To protect a lender, a hold for a book's replacement value may be placed on the borrower's card and released on return.

Automatically

2. Why we collect it

We collect only what we reasonably need for these purposes (PIPA's limiting principle).

3. Consent

We collect, use, and disclose your personal information with your consent. By joining the waitlist or using Lendook you consent to this policy. You can withdraw consent at any time (subject to legal or contractual limits) by contacting us — note this may mean we can no longer provide the service.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Storage and where data lives

Your data may be stored or processed outside Canada (for example on servers operated by Cloudflare, Discord, Google, and — in the future — Stripe, some of which are US-based). This means it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We use providers that maintain reasonable safeguards.

6. How we protect it

We use reasonable physical, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No system is perfectly secure; we can't guarantee absolute security.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law (e.g. tax records). Waitlist details are kept until launch and then either rolled into your account or deleted if you don't join. We delete or anonymize information when it's no longer needed.

8. Cookies and tracking

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used and how people find us. It sets cookies and collects usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device, referrer), which Google processes on our behalf. We don't use it for advertising. You can opt out by blocking cookies in your browser or installing Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

9. Your rights

Under PIPA you can:

Email privacy@lendook.com. We'll respond within the time required by law (generally 30 business days under PIPA). We may need to verify your identity first.

10. Children

Lendook is not intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you.
